Manual Focus Lenses For Canon EOS

Obtaining accurate focus is one of the more difficult tasks with DLSR cameras. Automatic focusing does not work in the dark. Today's automatic lenses do not have a hard stop at infinity. This makes manual focusing difficult as it is easy to go "beyond" the infinity point.  With manual focus lenses, it is easy. Just screw the focus all the way in, to infinity, and you are good to go.

Many feel that Canon cameras are the best for DSLR astrophotography. However, the consensus is that Nikon lenses are the best choice. Fortunately, adapters are available to use Nikon F-Mount lenses on a Canon camera.

B & H Photo is a reliable (USA) source for used lenses. If a Nikon is not available, look for a Pentax K-Mount or M42 screw-mount lens. Select lenses rated at 8+ or better. The quality of these lenses is amazing. The cost should be from about $75 to $125. You can get adapters for $15 to $25. The Nikon adapters are not designed for repetitive installation. So, get one for each lens.
