CCDSoft, CCDOPS, DitherMatic was used to dither the luminance layer, Sigma Clip (pre beta 11), Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop CS w/ the Fits Liberator plug-in, and Noel Carboni's actions .

Comment

North is to the right.

This is a close up of the northern part of the west end of the Veil Nebula. The supernova remnant lies about 1400 light-years away towards the constellation of Cygnus. Also called the Witch's Broom, the entire nebula spans over three times the angular size of the full Moon.
