12.5" RCOS @ ~ f/9 (2880 mm fl) at 0.64 arcsec/pixel. Shown at 1.26 and 3.03 arcsec/pixel.

SBIG STL-11000 w/ FW8 filter wheel & AstroDon Gen-2 RGB and 6mn Ha filters.

7/7/2015 to 7/28/2015  Chino Valley, AZ with CCD Commander & CCDSoft.

Software

  • CCDSoft, PixInsight & Photoshop CS6.

  • eXcalibrator v5.0 for (g:r) color balancing, using 89 stars from the APASS database.

  • CCDStack to calibrate all sub exposures and create the RGB image.

  • PixInsight to register, normalize, data reject, combine the luminance & Ha sub exposures and non-linear stretching with HistogramTransformation.

  • PhotoShop for adding the Ha data and the final touch up.

Comment

North is to the top.

Sh2-98 is a faint emission nebula, in the constellation of Cygnus, at a distance of about 11,700 light-years.
